From June 23 to 25, 2026, Messe München transforms into the global hub for the energy transition: The Smarter E Europe 2026 opens its doors – and we would like to introduce you to this extraordinary exhibition alliance that brings everything related to solar energy systems, energy storage, electromobility, and intelligent energy grids under one roof. With over 110,000 trade visitors from around the world, more than 2,800 exhibitors, and an exhibition space of 200,000 m², The Smarter E Europe is simply the largest and most important exhibition platform for the European energy industry. If you work in the sector – whether as an engineer, investor, exhibitor, or decision-maker – this event is unmissable. As a hotel near Messe München in peaceful Oberschleissheim, we provide you with all the essential information here to ensure your visit to the trade fair is a complete success.

The Smarter E Europe is far more than just a single trade fair. It is a unique exhibition alliance that brings together four specialized exhibitions under one roof, covering the entire value chain of the modern energy industry – from rooftop solar panels to smart grid infrastructure. For trade visitors, this means maximum topic breadth with maximum topic depth. At the same time, the accompanying technical conferences begin on June 22 and 23, 2026, a day before the official start of the exhibition, making a multi-day stay almost inevitable for those who really want to dive deep into the subject matter. Plan your stay generously – and book your accommodation in good time, as The Smarter E is one of the busiest trade fairs in Munich.

The Hotel am Schlosspark zum Kurfürst in Oberschleissheim is a quiet, well-connected alternative to the often overpriced and quickly booked-out hotels around the exhibition grounds. In about 25-30 minutes, you can reach the exhibition center – and in the evening, you return to an oasis of calm right by the Schlosspark Schleißheim, far away from the hustle and bustle of the trade fair city. Anyone looking for accommodation for The Smarter E 2026 should not hesitate too long: experience shows that hotels in the Munich-North region are booked up a year in advance.

What is The Smarter E Europe? Europe's largest exhibition alliance for renewable energy

The Smarter E Europe is no ordinary industry event. It is the largest European gathering of energy innovators and, since its inception, has bundled four highly specialized exhibitions on a common event site. The concept: synergy instead of parallel structures. Visitors can seamlessly move between the four sub-exhibitions and thus gain a complete picture of the modern energy industry – from generation and storage to transmission and intelligent control. On the official facts page of The Smarter E, you will find all the key data on the event summarized compactly.

The four exhibitions at a glance

  • Intersolar Europe: The world's leading exhibition for the solar industry. Here, manufacturers, project developers, and installers meet to discover the latest photovoltaic innovations, solar thermal solutions, and project planning tools. Intersolar Europe is the most important trade fair for the solar industry worldwide.
  • ees Europe: Europe's largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. From stationary home storage systems to large-scale storage systems and industrial battery applications – if you want to feel the pulse of the energy storage industry, this is the place to be.
  • Power2Drive Europe: The exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility. Electric vehicles, wallboxes, charging stations, vehicle-to-grid technologies, and the integration of e-mobility into the energy grid – Power2Drive shows how mobility and the energy transition grow together.
  • EM-Power Europe: The exhibition for intelligent energy use in industry and buildings. The focus is on smart grid infrastructure, prosumer solutions, energy management systems, and the digitalization of the energy industry.

The combination of these four exhibitions makes The Smarter E Europe an indispensable mandatory event for everyone working in the field of renewable energies. On over 200,000 m² of exhibition space with more than 2,800 exhibitors and 110,000 expected trade visitors from all over the world, a density of innovation, networking, and knowledge transfer is created that is unrivaled in the industry. All relevant visitor information for The Smarter E Europe can be found on the official website.

Dates, opening hours, and conference program 2026

The trade fair calendar for The Smarter E Europe 2026 is clearly structured – and if you want to experience the full program, you should plan at least three days:

  • Technical conferences: June 22 to 23, 2026 (before the actual exhibition start)
  • Exhibition days: June 23 to 25, 2026
  • Opening hours Tuesday & Wednesday: 09:00 AM – 06:00 PM
  • Opening hours Thursday: 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM
  • Event location: Messe München, 81823 Munich

The technical conferences, which start as early as Monday, offer in-depth sessions, keynotes, and panel discussions on the most pressing topics of the energy transition. Their content is often even more specific than the exhibition program itself and is aimed at experts who want to discuss current research results, market analyses, and technology trends firsthand. You can find the entire accompanying program and conference events on the official program page.

Highlights and what you shouldn't miss at The Smarter E Europe

For a trade fair of this magnitude, good preparation is essential. If you walk through the halls without a plan, you risk missing the exhibitors and sessions relevant to you. Here are the most important highlights and insider tips for your visit:

Innovation Awards and Startup Pitches

The Smarter E Europe annually presents the coveted The Smarter E Award prizes in various categories. The award ceremony is an absolute highlight and shows which technologies and companies are currently driving the industry forward. In parallel, all four sub-exhibitions have their own innovation forums, where startups and established companies present their latest developments.

Conferences and Networking

The conference program is extensive and high-caliber. From specialized solar conferences to battery storage summits to forums on energy digitalization – those seeking knowledge transfer will find it here. At least as valuable: the networking. The trade fair brings engineers, investors, project developers, and political decision-makers together in one place. Evening events and side events, in particular, offer ideal opportunities for personal conversations away from the hustle and bustle of the fair.

Tips for trade visitors

  • Arrive early: The exhibition opens daily at 09:00 AM. Using the first hours helps you avoid the largest crowds in the main halls.
  • Study the exhibition map in advance: With over 200,000 m² of space and four sub-exhibitions, it is worth planning a route through the halls relevant to you beforehand.
  • Plan for multiple days: The combination of conferences (June 22-23) and the actual exhibition (June 23-25) makes a stay of at least 2-3 days sensible.
  • Buy tickets in advance: Online tickets are generally cheaper than tickets bought at the counter. All info and prices on the official ticket page of The Smarter E.
  • Business attire: The Smarter E is a purely trade-oriented exhibition – the audience is professional, and the atmosphere is business-oriented accordingly.
