On Sunday, May 17, 2026, one of the greatest legends in rock music returns to the stage: Eric Clapton will play at the Olympiahalle München – an evening that will go down in history. Munich is one of only a few German stops on this tour, making the concert an absolute highlight event. As a hotel near the Olympiahalle München in Oberschleißheim, we are delighted to introduce you to this special concert and provide you with all the important information for an unforgettable evening. Anyone looking for comfortable accommodation for the Eric Clapton Munich 2026 concert has come to the right place at our Hotel am Schlosspark zum Kurfürst in Oberschleißheim – but first: everything you need to know about the concert itself.
For six decades, Eric Clapton has stood for unmistakable blues, rock, and soul. His shows are more than just a concert – they are a musical experience of the highest caliber. Between 12,000 and 15,500 visitors are expected at the Olympiahalle. Since the concert takes place on a Sunday evening and ends around 10:30 PM, an overnight stay near the Olympiahalle München makes perfect sense: instead of rushing home stressed, you can let the evening fade away in peace.
Eric Clapton, born in 1945 in Ripley, England, is a living legend of blues and rock today. His career began in the early 1960s with bands like The Yardbirds and Cream, before achieving worldwide fame as a solo artist. Songs such as Layla, Tears in Heaven, Wonderful Tonight, or Cocaine are part of the rock history canon. In 2026, Clapton celebrates his 60th stage anniversary – and combines this with his current tour for the album Meanwhile.
This anniversary tour is no ordinary concert project: Eric Clapton is known for his perfectionism on stage, his emotional playing style, and a band that has accompanied him at the highest level for years. Anyone who has experienced him live knows that every show is carried by incredible intensity – from quiet, tender ballads to driving blues tracks and ecstatic guitar solos. With the new album Meanwhile, there is likely to be fresh material that can be heard live for the first time in Germany.
An Eric Clapton concert is a journey through six decades of music history. Those expecting a classic Clapton setlist can look forward to a broad spectrum: from his early blues influences developed with Cream and John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, through his iconic solo albums of the 1970s and 80s, to current tracks from the album Meanwhile. The setlist varies from night to night, but some classics are almost never missing:
Add to that tracks from the new album Meanwhile, which Clapton released in 2024, impressively proving his maturity as a musician and songwriter. Live connoisseurs know: Clapton likes to improvise and gives his band plenty of space – this makes every evening a unique experience.
The Olympiahalle München is located right in the middle of the Olympiapark München – one of the most beautiful event locations in Germany. The hall was built for the 1972 Olympic Games and can hold up to 15,500 visitors with concert seating. The acoustics are remarkably good for a multi-purpose hall, and the sightlines are excellent from almost every seat. For a concert like Eric Clapton's – who insists on sound fidelity and quality – the Olympiahalle is a worthy stage.
Around the Olympiahalle, there are numerous ways to shape your evening: The Olympic grounds invite you to take a walk before the concert, there is catering nearby, and the entire area has a special atmosphere. If you arrive early, you can visit the Olympiaturm or explore the grounds before the show.
The demand for tickets for Eric Clapton in Munich is enormous – the artist no longer plays many concerts per year, and every tour could theoretically be one of the last. Anyone who doesn't have tickets yet should act immediately. Tickets are available through all well-known advance booking offices – including Eventim, München Ticket, and CTS Eventim. Make sure to purchase only from authorized retailers to avoid counterfeits.
The Olympiahalle is easily accessible via Munich's public transport network. The fastest connection is via the U3 or U8 subway lines to the Olympiazentrum station – from there, it is just a few minutes' walk to the Olympiahalle. The tram and several bus lines also stop nearby. Especially during major events, the MVG operates with increased frequency and additional trains.
The Olympiahalle is easily accessible via the A9 (Munich-Schwabing exit) and the A99 (Schwabing-Freimann exit). Parking is available on the Olympic grounds, but they fill up quickly during sold-out events. Recommendation: Use Park & Ride and take public transport to the hall – this saves time and nerves.
From our hotel in Oberschleißheim, you can reach the Olympiahalle conveniently via public transport. The bus stop “Lustheim” is only about 150 meters away.
