When the clay court season kicks off in April, Munich becomes the focal point of the tennis world for two weeks: The BMW Open by Bitpanda 2026 will attract the best players on the ATP Tour to the English Garden from April 11th to 19th, 2026. For the first time, this features the prestigious ATP 500 status, which has catapulted the traditional Munich tournament into a whole new league. With prize money of around 2.5 million euros and a player field that includes names like Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz, the tournament at MTTC Iphitos is no longer just an insider tip. If you have secured BMW Open 2026 tickets or are still planning to visit the tournament, you should also book your accommodation early.
The Hotel am Schlosspark zum Kurfürst in Oberschleißheim is ideally located in the north of Munich – just about 15 to 20 minutes away from the tournament grounds. While hotels in the city center are often fully booked months in advance during the tournament and priced at a premium, you will find a quiet, green base for your tennis days with us. Here, you will find everything you need to know about the tournament, travel, and the supporting program.
The tennis tournament spans nine days – from the qualifiers to Final Sunday. If you really want to immerse yourself in the tournament atmosphere, it is best to plan for two to three days. The early rounds from Monday to Wednesday offer the unique chance to see multiple top stars on different courts at the same time, without the crowds of the final weekend. Read on and discover why the BMW Open 2026 is one of the most beautiful tennis experiences of the year.
The BMW Open has a long tradition in Munich. For decades, the tournament at the MTTC Iphitos – the Munich Tennis and Table Tennis Club, nestled directly on the edge of the English Garden – has been a staple in the European tennis calendar. With the upgrade to an ATP 500 event starting in 2025, the Munich clay court tournament has ascended into an exclusive category: worldwide, there are only 13 tournaments of this format. More points for the world rankings, more prize money, more stars – the significance of this upgrade for the tournament and its spectators can hardly be overstated.
What sets the BMW Open apart from many other ATP tournaments is the unique atmosphere. The grounds of the MTTC Iphitos at the English Garden offer a flair that you won't find at any other tournament of this category: a familiar vibe, short distances between courts, direct contact with the stars, and an audience that truly loves tennis. Spectators sit close to the courts, the distance between the field of play and the grandstand is small – perfect for intense tennis moments and an unforgettable atmosphere.
The ATP 500 status also means that the world's best are especially eager to sign up here.
