Located in the landscape conservation area of the Isar meadows as an idyllic natural island, the oldest geo-zoo in the world invites you to take a trip around it. In an area of 36 hectares, it is divided into 15 sections because of the geo-zoo concept.
The zoo in Munich was established in 1911 as the first geo-zoo in the world. The animals live in complex communities according to their geographical distribution, and if you follow the pictograms, you will embark on a world tour through the various biotopes in the world.
Hellabronn is not a zoo in the traditional sense. It is more of a natural park in the landscape conservation area of the Isar meadows, in which the animals live in specially structured large enclosures. Due to an extensive system of ditches and a very natural landscape design, the visitor can enjoy a magnificent and unobstructed view of the animals which he could normally only expect in wildlife observations.
