In 1966 the International Olympic Committee awarded the 1972 Olympic Summer Games to Munich. The Olympia Park was built in six years at the foot of the 290 metre high Olympia Tower – an ensemble of modern stadiums and sports halls. The buildings were embedded in an artificial landscape with a lake covering around 80,000 m2 in line with the leitmotif of "Olympic Games in the Green".

Munich Olympia Park

After the Olympic Games the Munich Olympia Park became one of Europe's biggest centres for events and recreation.

To date, more than 8,000 sports, cultural and commercial events have been held with over 150 million visitors. These are joined by the up to 2,000 athletes who train here daily and numerous walkers, up to 30,000 on good weekends.

During the course of the 1972 Summer Olympics further Olympic facilities were built around 3,5 km from our house – the regatta course in Oberschleißheim and the Garching shooting range.

The Oberschleißheim regatta course made Munich into a regatta venue of international repute.

As a rowing training centre and venue for important rowing regattas, though also as a place where sportsmen and women can prepare for canoeing and rowing competitions, the regatta course is open to national and international visitors.

Olympia Regatta Course
At weekends you can experience a whole new way of looking at things at the regatta course. If the weather is good, the firm of Jochen Schweizer organises Bungee Jumping at the courset.

Olympic Shooting Range

The best riflemen in the world meet up at the Garching Olympic Shooting Range. A place where shooting history has been written for the past 25 years and longer.

Man spectacular events have been held since then, the range was the venue for important competitions with innumerable records in almost all shooting disciplines.

The Olympic facilities can be reached from our hotel in a short time. The Olympic Shooting Range and Olympic Rowing Regatta are unfortunately not served by public transport. [How to get there]
